Todd Allen Schumer

Todd Allen Schumer, age 54, of Wallace, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at The Birch in Sutherland.

Todd was born on March 18, 1970, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Leonard and Coleen (LaLonde) Schumer. He graduated from Wallace High School in 1988 and earned an associate's degree in Colorado Springs.

Following his education, Todd moved to Ogallala, where he worked at the Super 8 motel for nearly a decade. He later lived and worked in Denver and Grand Island, holding desk clerk positions at various motels, including the Mainstay Inn. In 2022, Todd returned to Wallace as his health declined, eventually moving to Imperial Manor and then Sutherland.

Todd was a hardworking man who was quiet by nature and preferred the background to the spotlight. Despite his soft-spoken demeanor, when Todd spoke, people listened. He enjoyed collecting Southwest-themed items and playing Bingo. Todd was also a devoted Madonna fan.

Todd was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wallace, where he had served many Masses, alongside his brother, as a boy.

Todd was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Schumer; grandparents, Norbert and Beatrice Schumer, and Frank and Dixie LaLonde; as well as his aunt, Loretta Weiss, and uncle, LaVern Schumer.

Survivors include his mother, Coleen Schumer of Wallace; brother, Brad Schumer of North Platte; nephews, Gavin Manery Schumer and Kasen Manery Schumer; many cousins, relatives, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Morning View Cemetery in Wallace, with Father Suresh Bandha officiating.
