Nancy Schumer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Center & Confluence Center on Mar. 2, 2026.
Nancy Schumer (nee Tasker), age 79, of St. Charles, MO was called home to the Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Nancy was survived by her loving husband of 57 years, John Schumer. Her children Janelle (Chris) Reichardt and Johnny (Jean) Schumer, her grandchildren, Shane Reichardt, Sean Reichardt, William Reichardt, Jaxson Schumer, Samson Schumer and great-grandaughter Elise Huddleston. Her sisters, Ellen Tasker and Carolyn Mason and her brother Ray (Kathy) Johnston and her beloved dog Wooly Bully.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother.

Nancy was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother whose life was a beautiful reflection of her faith. Though often described as "not the typical preacher's wife," she cherished and adored her loving husband beyond measure. Their marriage was truly a match made in heaven-especially since Nancy happily admitted she hated cooking, and her husband lovingly took over that role.

Each morning, Nancy began her day in heartfelt prayer, lifting up every person she knew by name. Every evening, she ended her day reading her Bible, drawing comfort and strength from God's word. Her faith was not simply spoken-it was lived daily. She practiced what she preached, sharing the love of God freely and helping others whenever she could.

Nancy faithfully worked for 40 years at the National Personnel Records Center, where she promoted officers and supported the important mission of preserving military records. It was there that she built lifelong friendships. Alongside her best friends, she began a prayer group so meaningful and steadfast that it was officially acknowledged by the government, which provided them a room to gather-a beautiful testament to their devotion.

She taught her family that it is better to give than to receive, and she truly lived that way every day. Whether through quiet acts of kindness, generous giving, or simply offering a listening ear, Nancy's life was a reflection of selflessness and grace.

She found joy in thrift shopping, always delighted by discovering hidden treasures, and she treasured peaceful moments relaxing at home. Above all, she loved her family deeply. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she poured her prayers, wisdom, and unconditional love into each of them.

Nancy's legacy is one of unwavering faith, generosity, and compassion. In her honor, she would ask that instead of sending flowers, make a donation to Cornerstone Four Square Church Blessing Box, 2646 Country Club Rd. 63303.
