Thomas Earl Messerla, 90, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at his home.

The beloved husband of Virginia Rohlfing (nee Brandt) and the late Charlotte Messerla (nee Braunselwig) on May 20, 2009; step-father of Connie Haas (Edward), Larry Rohlfing (Janet Walters) and the late Sandra Schaefer; grandpa Tom of Shane Haas (Michelle), Alex Haas (Maddie), Scott Schaefer, Jamie Schaberg, Christine Causey (Jim), Kimberly Lord (Brian), Allison Walters; great-grandpa Tom of Meghan Strange (Jared), Sean Schaefer,Sarah Schaberg, Alyssa Causey, Trip Lord and Ryder Lord; great-great-grandpa Tom of Elizabeth and James; step father-in-law of Tim Schafer; dear brother of Dave Messerla (Janet) and was preceded in death by Mike Messerla and Sharon Messerla. He was the loving son of the late Earl L. and Nola "Billie" Messerla (nee Thomas). Tom was a cousin, uncle and friend to many.

Tom was a proud veteran of the United States Marines. He was a member of Fairmount Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 10:30 am at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Services, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Dr., St. Charles 63304. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until time of services at 10:30 am.

Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors.
