Richard Stanley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Center & Confluence Center on Feb. 24, 2026.
Richard "Rich" Stephen Stanley, 74, baptized with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church on February 21, 2026. Beloved husband of Linda (nee Mussmann) Stanley; loving father of Ryan (Chelsea) Stanley; cherished grandfather of Sophia; dear brother of Ralph (Marilyn), Darlene "Kiddo", Denise (Jason) Smothers and Robert (Melissa); uncle, godfather, cousin, and friend to many.

Richard "Rich" Stanley, born July 3, 1951, lived a life defined by devotion to family, pride in his work, and kindness toward everyone he met. He will be remembered most for his steady presence, generous heart, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. Rich married his high school sweetheart, Linda, and together they shared 51 wonderful years of marriage built on friendship, laughter, and deep commitment. Sixteen years into their marriage, they were blessed with their son, Ryan, who became one of Rich's greatest joys. In recent years, his pride and happiness grew even more when Ryan found love with Chelsea. Next was the arrival of his beloved granddaughter, Sophia, who brought endless smiles to his life. Shortly after graduating high school, Rich answered the call to serve his country when he was drafted during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Korea. His time in the service shaped his strong sense of duty and resilience-qualities that remained with him throughout his life. In 1974, after returning home, Rich began a long and meaningful career with the Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 268. He served a 5-year apprenticeship and then worked as a journeyman. Rich later served as an Executive Board Member followed by a term as President until his retirement. Rich dedicated himself not only to his craft but also to the strength and integrity of his union. Rich was a proud union member for 51 years and valued the friendships and camaraderie he found there. Above all, Rich was most proud of his family-his beautiful wife Linda, his loving son Ryan and beloved Chelsea, as well as his cherished granddaughter Sophia. He found joy in simple moments, whether spending time with loved ones, visiting with neighbors, or greeting passing dogs with a treat in hand. His warmth and friendliness left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Rich will be deeply missed by his family, friends, neighbors, and even the many puppies who came to know his gentle kindness. His legacy of love, service, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
