Tom Hagerty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coldren-Crates Funeral Home - Findlay on Nov. 26, 2025.
Tom E. Hagerty passed away on October 22, 2025 surrounded by his children. He was born on October 15, 1941 to Harold and Bernice Hagerty who preceded him in death. Tom grew up in a family that had deep farming roots in Vanlue, Ohio. Growing up on the farm he started at a very young age working in the fields and taking care of all kinds of livestock. He had a very strong work ethic that was instilled in him early on. Tom worked hard and played hard. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer hunting, searching for arrowheads, finding the evasive Morel mushrooms, being in nature and flying the family airplane in the open sky. One of the things he enjoyed most was sports of any kind! He was a fierce competitor who played football, baseball and basketball in high school. That love of all things sports continued long into adulthood where he played organized basketball, softball and golf. Whether playing or watching a game in person or on tv, he was always happiest when he could catch a game of any kind. It should also not be forgotten that Tom had the biggest sweet tooth and never met a dessert he didn't like, unless it had chocolate in it! Oh, and his favorite veggie casserole at every holiday meal of course we won't forget that! In 1966 he swept a beautiful young lady, Mary Ann Howard, off her feet and they shared 58 years together. Mary preceded him in death in April of 2025. Working side by side on the family farm their entire lives, Tom and Mary had many adventures but their favorite thing to do together was to spend time at their cabin in the mountains of Pennsylvania. They created many fun memories with each other and close family friends at their special place. In addition to farming, Tom proudly and faithfully served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He also retired from working at Hantech for many years. Tom was a hardworking provider for Mary and his children and sacrificed a lot to make sure they were always taken care of. He loved them very much. The addition of all his grandchildren through the years brought him so much joy. He loved spending time with each one of them and cheering on their various sporting and other events through the years. He also enjoyed engaging in a competitive game of Uno at family gatherings with them. Tom is survived by his children Lisa (DeMya) Wimberly, Brett (Nikki) Hagerty, and Jennifer (Bobby) Ring; His grandchildren Jordan (Courtney) Musselman, Keianna Wimberly, DeNay Wimberly, Kelsey Hagerty, Carson Hagerty, Brendon Ring, Justin Ring, Alyssa Ring, his bonus grandchildren Amber and Redden Smith; his great granddaughter Lylah Gomez; and his sister Martha Von Schmidt Pauli. He was preceded in death by his brothers Dave and Jim. Tom was a born again Christian who faithfully attended Community Bible Church in Williamstown for many years, then later Findlay First Church of the Nazarene and other churches later in life until health issues. We find comfort in knowing that dad knew Jesus and is now in heaven with Him and united with mom, who he has greatly missed so much. Dad had a huge, outgoing personality with a fiery strong opinion, a quick, loud hearty laugh and the most beautiful sparkling blue eyes you ever saw. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by us all. The family would like to thank all the special people who helped care for dad in his last days.
