Tom was married to his high school, sweetheart, Sue Dockery, on June 3, 1967 and together they shared 57 years of marriage. After graduation, Tom entered the United States Marine Corps where he served as a helicopter crew chief from 1966-1970. During this time, he served in Vietnam with HMM 161 from 1968 to 1969. Tom was awarded the Bronze Star Air Medal. After his discharge, he graduated with his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from SIU. He retired after 38 years working at the Baldwin Power plant for Illinois Power/Dynegy. After retirement, Tom and Sue moved to the Lake of the Ozarks where they enjoyed boating and fishing. He also began woodworking, making several pieces of furniture for the family.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sue of Sunrise Beach Missouri. They were blessed with three children. A son Steve (Beth) of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, a daughter Stephanie of Waterloo Illinois, a son Jeff (Nindy) of Lake St. Louis Missouri and seven grandchildren Jessica (Dylan) Wagner, Dalton (Amanda) Morrison, Rylee, Raegan and Reese Morrison, Aidan and Evan McFadden and two great-grandchildren Jacob and Levi Wagner. Tom is also survived by one brother-in-law Charles (Paula) Dockery of Sunrise Beach, Missouri and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Sharon Hille, and a brother Mick Morrison.
It was his wish to be cremated and have a private service for immediate family.
Tom touched many lives through the years. If anyone would like to make a donation in his honor, memorials can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or a local American Legion.
