Tomas "Tommy" Guzman Paiz III was born on August 23, 1971, in Dallas, Texas, and passed away on October 3, 2025, at the age of 54.
Tommy lived a life filled with love, purpose, and compassion. From a young age, he showed strength, discipline, and determination-qualities that led him to serve his country proudly as a United States Marine. His service reflected the same courage and integrity that defined him throughout his life.
Tommy's heart was truly one of a kind. He was known for his generosity, his willingness to help anyone in need, and his deep compassion for others, especially the homeless and those going through hard times. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand, share a meal, or offer words of encouragement. To everyone who knew him, he was more than a friend; he was a light and a protector.
Growing up, Tommy was an elite soccer player whose talent and passion for the game made him well known across Dallas. He played with heart, skill, and leadership, earning the respect and admiration of many in the local soccer community. Over the years, that same love for the game became something he proudly shared with his family. He was overjoyed to watch his daughter, Courtney Lauren Paiz, grow up playing soccer, and even prouder to see his granddaughter, Sophia Marquez, continue the legacy. He loved being her biggest fan-cheering her on from the sidelines and giving her advice on how to play with strength, passion, and grace.
More than anything, Tommy was a devoted family man. He was a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a caring brother and son. He is survived by his daughter, Courtney Lauren Paiz; his granddaughter, Sophia Marquez; his sisters, Melinda Hartsfield and Cindy Paiz; his beloved mother, Linda Guerra; He was preceded in death by his cherished maternal grandparents, Edmundo and Lucia Guerra; and cousins Gilbert Guerra Jr, Freddy Martinez Jr, Denise Guerra Rojo, Christopher "Tank" Martinez, who he loved deeply and who now welcome him home with open arms.
Tommy will be remembered for his big heart, his humor, and his unwavering loyalty to those he loved. His life was a testament to kindness, strength, and the power of love. Though he is no longer here with us, his memory will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the family he adored.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his numerous aunts and uncle's cousin and friends, and the community who knew him as both a fierce competitor and a man with an unforgettable spirit.
