Tommie Byrd Obituary

Published by Legacy on May 16, 2024.
Tommie Byrd of Toledo, OH gained his angel wings at the age of 55 on May 14, 2024. Tommie, also know as Geek, was born on July 7, 1968 to Betty and Tommy Jones.
Tommie attended Toledo Public Schools, and Scott Bulldogs held a special place in his heart. He worked for Johns Manville as a certified fire brigade for many years. He was a man of many traits, from working on cars to hosting parties, he was "The Host with the most." There was never a dull moment with Tommie around!
Geek truly brought light and laughter to every room he entered. He was known to lend a helping hand, or the shirt off his back to help others in need. He was selflessly a man of God, dedicating his life to the Lord at a young age, he was raised in New Home Missionary Baptist Church and later began attending church at The Worship Center.
Tommie was preceded in death by his father Tommy Jones; stepson Rudy Staples; grandmothers Luella Byrd and Roberta Smith, grandfathers Sammy Byrd and Tommy Smith; 5 uncles, 2 aunts and cousins.
Although Geek may no longer be with us in flesh, his spirit lives on in the love he shared with others. He leaves to cherish in his memory, his two beautiful daughters, Jasmine and China Byrd; stepchildren: Ranada Staples and Omar Jones; grandchildren Mason and Morgan Byrd; His mother, Betty Jones; Siblings: Bobby (Evette) Byrd, and Tina Jones. Aunts: Linda Byrd, and Teresa Byrd; Uncles: Alex (Darlene) Byrd, Charles Byrd; A host of cousins, friends and two special relatives Michael (Nicole) Byrd and Uncle David (Tangela) Smith.
