MOTHER TOMMIE J. WILSON was called to her Heavenly rest on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the age of 85. She was born Tommie J. Hayes to Ulysse and Irma (Henderson) Hayes on December 8, 1938, in Marlin, TX. Mother attended Booker T. Washington school in Marlin, TX. Mother joined the workforce at an early age. Mother was never afraid of hard work. Her family would go on cotton-pickings, where she would meet the love of her life, Mr. William B. Wilson. They met in SW Oklahoma, where she fell in love and did not return to Marlin. They married in January of 1961 and Mother Wilson never remarried after her husband went to be with the Lord in 2004. Mother Tommie J. Wilson furthered her education by becoming an assistant teacher at Arnett High School. She also served this community of Hollis as a nursing assistant (Colonial Manors), working in the restaurants (Hollis Inn) and as well as in clothing
factory. Mother Wilson finally was led to her god-sent occupation: Home Day Care Owner. She and her husband opened the Wilson Home Day Care. Mother worked up until 2 months before she left this world. Mother Wilson accepted the Lord in 1974 and joined Babers Temple Church of God in Christ; where her pastor was the late Elder Otis Babers, Sr. and the First Lady was Sis. Katie Babers. She served in the following positions: Big Sister Sunshine, Hospitality Dept., Mission Boards, Pastor's Aid and in her final positions as the Mother of the Church and Senior Leader of the Women's Dept. She had a super heart for children and for her community as a whole. Mother
had a caring heart for the young women especially single parents. She encouraged them to seek higher education and employment, and to take care of their children. Mother prayed for all the children and parents and their families. She inspired them to search for Jesus Christ because He is the answer. Mother Wilson trained the Women and children in Babers Temple COGIC. Mother only served under two officially appointed pastors her entire life: Pastor Otis Babers, Sr. and current Pastor, Elder Keven Ward. She had a special place in her heart for Supt Robert Green. Mother Wilson adored many who have labored in the Lord with her down through the years. Mother was awarded many certificates and was celebrated through her services rendered in the Church of God in Christ. The Fellowship Hall at Babers Temple was
named after Mother Wilson and she was elated.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ulysse and Irma Hayes; her husband: William B. Wilson; 2 brothers: James Edward Hayes and Bennell Hayes; and 1 great-grandson: Tyree Hayes.

Tyler, I'm so sorry about the passing of your great grandma Tommie. When I first met Mrs Tommie she welcomed me with open arms and I felt her love and friendship. We didn't see each other on a regular but I always felt the love from her and the family. Love and blessings to Tyler and his family, Grandma Clem Bess
