Tommy Joe Armstrong was born on August 14, 1961, and was taken from his loved ones on September 30, 2024, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Tommy joined his sister Sherry (Thompson) Armstrong and later his younger brother Terry Armstrong and Shawn Armstrong along with their parents Tommy Armstrong and Linda (Ward) Armstrong in Poteau, Oklahoma. His youth was a continuous adventure and included a lot of traveling and adventures.

In 1979 Tommy enlisted in the Army and was honorably discharged after mastering expert levels in rifle, hand grenade, combat and atomic demolition munitions.

Once Tommy’s army career was complete his life would take on more careers than most. He worked construction, held numerous side jobs, played and sang in his band, built trailers, was a certified electrician, became a top inspector in Oil and Gas and just lived life to the fullest. He liked to joke that he finally retired for the last time to become a cattle rancher. To say the man could do anything would be an understatement. He was unbelievably smart, adaptive and hard working. It was incredible to watch how quickly he figured ranching out and found such easy solutions to difficult problems.

Born into a musical family, Tommy played the guitar and sang beautifully. He was truly gifted. He also loved his motorcycles and traveled all over the country seeing sights and taking trips for days or a month at a time.

Tommy did not always have the easiest route through life, he climbed many mountains in his day, but he was kind, helpful to those who needed it, loyal and true inside and out and he never let his difficult times affect others. There are no words to say what a loss to the world losing him is. Just like a top record, he was solid gold.

Tommy is survived by his wife Suzi Armstrong, sister Sherry Armstrong, brother Shawn Armstrong, son Ronnie Armstrong, son Jeremy (Shelly) Armstrong, daughter Katie Armstrong, grandchildren Creecy, Lela, Ragen, Belle, Evan, Odin, Gabriel, Emma, Michael, Tony and Amellia, great grandchildren Tristan, Freya and Laydon.

Tommy is preceded in death by his brother Terry, father Tom and mother Linda.

Tommy will be terribly missed by his family and friends. Until me meet again…
