Tommy Barron Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wright Memorial Mortuary - Rome on Jan. 22, 2026.
May the prayers of the righteous be with the Barron family as they navigate one of life's darkest hours.

We respectfully announce the passing of Mr. Tommy Lee Barron owner and operator of Barron Grave Service, 65, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Barron was born on January 27, 1960, to the late James Barron and Betty Bishop, who

survives him.

Mr. Barron owned and operated Barron's Grave Services for many years and was known

affectionately to many as "Gravedigger". In early years, Mr. Barron enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending many long hours in the woods or on the water. The past few years were spent enjoying old cars and trucks, especially his '65 Chevrolet truck. As well, many a mile was enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

Many dreams were attained and enjoyed by hard work and determination. Mr. Barron enjoyed the mountains and was there often, but his favorite trip was when he and his wife went to Graceland, as he was an Elvis fan through and through.

Mr. Barron had a softer, more emotional side to him and a little pound ball of fur, a Yorkie named Buttercup. Buttercup brought out the softer side of a man who was very careful with his heart and his emotions. The days became more enjoyable for Tommy Barron, even on the days that were especially hard.

Mr. Barron attended His Church in Rome, Ga, and being baptized into the family of God was an incredibly special moment of his life. Mr. Barron's presence filled the room when he entered it, and he will be greatly missed for his larger-than-life personality.

Mr. Barron was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Retha Mae Sisson, and by a

son, Tommy Lee Barron, Jr.

Mr. Barron is survived by his wife, Meredith "Sassy" Barron; a daughter, Lacey Lockwood; and a son, Cody Lee Barron; his grandsons, Landon Lockwood and Eegan Lockwood; a very special sister-in-law, Letitia Chapman, and a brother-in-law, Van (Cyndi) Westmoreland ; as well as many other family members and special friends, William "Honky" Roberson, Patrick

Driver, Mikey Pembleton, and Larry "Bo" Smith.

The family would like to extend their most sincere appreciation to Tapestry Hospice and Alix Hayes for their professionalism and comfort during this difficult time.

Services celebrating his life will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in the chapel at Wright Memorial Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Please keep the Barron family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
