Tommy Joe Francois

Tommy Joe Francois, 80, of Mount Vernon, IL, passed away at 9:05 pm January 4, 2026 at Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon, IL. He was born February 26, 1945 in Centralia, IL to Ray Charles Francois and Mary Bonadean (Stewart) Francois. Tommy married Sharon Sue (Sweitzer) Francois on October 15, 1986 in Douglas, Arizona.
Tommy is survived by his Wife, Sharon Sue Francois; Children, Thomas T.J. Francois, Jennifer Lynn McElwain and husband Andrew, Deena Marie Barghothi and Mark McCarthy; 6 Grandchildren, Gage Miers, Michael McElwain, Emma McElwain, Abby Francois, Matthew Francois; Brother, Larry Dean Francois and wife Vicki; Sister, Mary Ann Shufeldt; Several nieces and nephews.
Tommy was preceded in death by his Parents, 3 Brothers, Charles Albert, William Burl, Gary Ray; Beloved Grandson Jacob McElwain and Brother in Law David Shufeldt.
He loved his family and faith and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. Tom was also a life member of the Elks as well as a part of the NRA, Rotary, American Battlefield Trust, Jefferson County Crime Stoppers and Jefferson County Historical Society. He worked many years at Centralia Correctional Center as a teacher.
