Tommy Duane Jones, 72, of Clyde passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025, at an Abilene hospital. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Tommy was born December 3, 1952, in Abilene to the late Clyde and Pauline (Payne) Jones. He graduated from Cooper High School and attended Cisco Junior College. He served his country in the US Army from 1971 until 1974. He married Kathy Parker in Callahan County on December 7, 1991. Tommy worked as a letter carrier for the USPS for many years and was a member of the NALC Union. He loved golf, football and traveling but he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathy Jones of Clyde; five sons, Doug Jones and wife, Debbie of Seaford, Virginia, Steven Jones of Abilene, Joe Bryan Underwood and wife, Norma of Carlsbad, New Mexico, David Underwood and wife, B.J. of Eula and Cory Jones of Abilene; one brother, John Kirby and wife, Cheryl of Ohio; one sister, Gayle Friga of Dripping Springs; twelve grandchildren, Denae, Abby, Kian, Kenedy, Kaden, Nicole, Brently, Liam, Weston, Brett, Brittanae and Kody; seven great grandchildren and special friends, Ron Eudy of Cisco and Danny Drury of Abilene.
