Tommy Kersey Obituary
Thomas (Tom) Acrill Kersey, 81, of Lee County, died Saturday, October 26, 2024 at his home surrounded by family. His memorial service will be 11 AM Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Mathews Funeral Home. Dr. Josh Posey will officiate.
Born in New Bern, NC, Mr. Kersey lived in south Florida and moved to Lee County in 1981. A self-made man, he owned and operated many different local ventures which included Lee Co Bail Bond, Creekwood Plaza, Doublegate EEZZ Mart and Albany Auto Repair. He loved to travel, ride horses, and scuba dive while on one of his many boats. He was an avid antique collector and history buff. He loved to play cards, walk in the woods and neighborhood and spend time with his family who lovingly called him “Poppy”.
His survivors include his children, Erin McDonald (VJ), Heather Hart (Reed), Dave Dresser (Tracy), grandchildren, Jordan McDonald, Gavin McDonald, Jacob Hart, John Wayne Hart, Molly Dresser, Delia Dresser, Sam Dresser, great grandchildren, Griffin McDonald, Arley McDonald, brother, Robert “Bob” Kersey, Jr., sisters, Agnes Hood Cherry, Elizabeth Hood Kivette, Sara Scott Hood and Perry Hood Olive.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Mathews Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers please make memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Flint River Habitat for Humanity.
