Funeral services for Tommy McMurry will be held Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 2 p.m. from Pine Grove Church of God in Edinburg, MS with Bro. Jerry Germany officiating. Interment will be in White Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Pine Grove Church of God. McClain-Hays is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McMurry, 81, of Carthage passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
Tommy was born and raised in the White Oak Community to Leon and Ruby McMurry and attended Edinburg and Carthage schools. He was employed with U.S. Motors for 40 plus years until they closed and after retiring from the U.S. Motors he was a poultry farmer for 20 plus years. He loved to hunt, fish and his tic tac’s, but he especially loved gardening and his fruit trees. Tommy was a quiet, humble man, but when he did speak it was always words of wisdom. He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. McMurry was a long- time member of Pine Grove Church of God in Edinburg. He was loved by all and he will surely be missed.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Frances McMurry of Carthage; daughter, Kristi Salers (Danny) of Carthage; Sons, Tommy McMurry, Jr. (Robin) and Barry McMurry (Tammy) all of Carthage; grandchildren, Valerie Williamson (Zach), Ashly McMurry, Larissa Salers, Dustin McMurry, Wesley McMurry (Catherine); 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nell Chipley (Mike) and Hilda Lepard (Jimmie).
Pallbearers: Wesley McMurry, Dustin McMurry, JohnTyler Palmer, Scott Lepard, Adam King and Anthony Dumas.
Mr. McMurry was preceded in death by parents, Leon and Ruby McMurry; sister, Joyce Coleman.
In lieu of flowers the family requests all memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
