Tommy Ray Oliver of Stuttgart, Arkansas went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2023, just a few days shy of his 72nd birthday. He was surrounded by loved ones as ultimately pneumonia claimed his life.
On February 20, 1951, Tommy was born into the farming community of Stuttgart, Arkansas. Tommy embraced the culture and poured his heart and soul into creating a life to support the growth of the agriculture demand. He graciously made ample time to also support his church and community. His best days were ahead when he married Kim Oliphant Oliver and they joyfully welcomed two sons.
His life journey had a few twists and turns. Tommy shined the brightest when he was diagnosed in 1980 with the progressive neurological condition, multiple sclerosis. The diagnoses did not slow him down. He made a daily decision to thrive in the midst of the challenges MS presented. During these 40 years as, physical limitations were setting in, Tommy remained an active farmer, dedicated husband and father, had the honor of being named Prairie County Farm Family of the year in 1994 along with Rice Farmer of the year in 2002, enjoyed the relationships built through Prairie Implement, and continued to have meaningful relationships with everyone he met.
Tommy was a faithful follower of the Lord, devoted husband, loving father and Dadad to his adoring grandchildren. He enjoyed time outside, socializing, Razorback sports, good food, family lake trips and attending grandchildren activities.
He was preceded in death by his father William Donald Oliver. Besides his wife, his survivors are his mother Norma Knoll Oliver of Stuttgart, sibling Gary (Betty) Oliver of Stuttgart, children Lane (Erin) Oliver of Stuttgart and Loren (Michelle) Oliver of Fayetteville; his grandchildren Hannah Oliver McMurray (Nathan), Luke Oliver, Leah Kate and William Oliver.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Lee Archer of UAMS for his dedication to Tommy throughout his journey.
On Monday February 20th, a morning grave side service will be held with the memorial service to follow at First Christian Church at 1:30 with visitation immediately following.
In leu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Christian Church or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
