Tommy Shoemaker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Lindsey Chapel on Aug. 24, 2024.
CRESTLINE: Tommy Lewis Shoemaker passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the age of 47.
He was born in Ashland on December 15, 1976, to his mother Alverna Krebs. Tommy's family later moved to Lexington, where he began working at Geyer's Market at 16. Tommy graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1996 and continued to work for Geyer's Market. He had many different positions at Geyer's but mostly drove trucks shipping store items between locations. Tommy retired from Geyer's in 2017 after working for 30 years.
Tommy was known as a "happy-go-lucky" kind of person, always with a smile on his face. He was always very friendly and particularly enjoyed assisting elderly individuals with anything they might need. Over the years of going every morning to Subway, Tommy created a group of people, whom he considered his "Subway family" and cherished his time with them.
Tommy was an avid collector of model trains and John Deere Tractors. He spent many hours working on scenery sets for his model trains and traveling to different expos to show off his collections. He had purchased a camper that he was remodeling to use just for traveling with his train sets and scenery. Tommy was also a member of the Richland County Train Club.
He is survived by his mother Alverna (Jimmy) Bruce; his sister Patty Shoemaker; his nephew Corey Altaffer; his niece Rachel Altaffer; his uncles Roger Krebs, Dean Krebs, Timmy Krebs, and Albert Krebs; his aunt Martha Igo; and his step-brothers Jimmy, Jason, Brandon, Billy, and Jesse Bruce.
Tommy was preceded in death by his Aunt Iola Mong and his uncle Duane Krebs.
Tommy's family will receive friends on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Snyder Funeral Home- Lindsey Chapel, Loudonville. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. Pastor John Temple will officiate and burial will follow in Loudonville Cemetery.
Contributions in Tommy's memory may be made to his family at the funeral home.
