The family of Tommy Wayne Stepaniak, of Paola, Kansas, sadly announces his passing on March 26, 2025. He was 74.
Tom was born in Fresno, California, but grew up in Stilwell, Kansas. He graduated from Stilwell High School in 1968, lettering in football, basketball and track.
Tom served in the Navy aboard the USS Vancouver from July 1970 to July 1974, as a Machinist Mate, MM3, E4, stationed in San Diego, California. He was a naval reservist from 1974 to 1976 and was Honorably Discharged at the time. He was the recipient of the National Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Jerelene Stepaniak. He is survived by his wife Donna; sisters Linda (Ed), and Sandy (Gary); brother Paul; five nephews, one niece, five great nieces and eight great nephews.
Visitation will be 10:30am, followed by a memorial service at 11am, Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Stilwell, 19950 Broadmoor Ln, Stilwell, Kansas 66050. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
