With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Tommy L. "TY" Young, a beloved man known for his passion for life, passed away on May 30, 2025 surrounded by his family in Bay City, Michigan at the age of 69. He was born on July 9, 1955, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to James and Louise (Spann) Young, both of whom preceded him in death.
TY's life was characterized by his adventurous spirit and a profound need for speed. He found joy in snowmobiling, trail riding, and spending countless hours at his cherished cabin in St. Helen. He was a master mechanic who enjoyed working on motors of all kinds. His passion for NASCAR and Corvettes often sparked lively discussions, and his engaging personality made him the life of the party, always drawing people in with his charisma.
Family was paramount to TY. He cherished memories of boating, teaching his girls how to water ski and tubing adventures with his grandchildren. These moments will forever be etched in their hearts. He also enjoyed hunting in the Thumb with his brother and sister-in-law. He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Rosalee Young, and their two children, Raelene (Kevin) Feinauer, Stacey (Chad) Skrocki, and his daughter, Heather Young. His legacy will endure through his grandchildren, Rhiyah and Bria Feinauer, Maverick, Ivy, and Levi Skrocki, and Braeden Leist, who will carry forward the love and wisdom he imparted to them. He will be dearly missed by his dog, Buddy. In addition to his parents, TY was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, William LaBuhn and his nephew, Matthew LaBuhn.
TY also shared a special bond with his mother-in-law, Rose LaBuhn, brothers and sisters-in-law, Rochelle and Joseph Stacks, Steve and Vicki LaBuhn, and Tracee and David Tisch, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends who were fortunate to know him. He will be deeply missed, not only for his vibrant energy but also for the unwavering love he shared with those around him.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Memorial service will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be E.J. Brown. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Helen Snowpackers Snowmobile and ORV Club.
