Tommy Lynn Zanders, born September 20,1954 in
Corpus Christi, Texas to Charlie C. Zanders, Jr, and Melba J. (Harbert) Zanders. Tommy passed away on July 28, 2025.
After Tommy graduated from Mary Carroll High School he was united in marriage to Jacqueline (Jackie West) Zanders. One child, a son, was born to this union, Tommy Lynn West.
He enlisted in the United States Army in May 1973, during the Vietnam Era.
Tommy enjoyed doing volunteer work with the Church & DAV. He loved donating to various organizations as well. While resting and relaxing at home and with family and friends Tommy liked to cook and he was pretty good at it too. He liked being with family and was so proud when he was with or heard news of his son and his grandchildren. No one was a stranger to him, and he liked meeting people. Tommy enjoyed listening to music and watching TV in his alone time. He also took delight in walking in the evenings mostly, even when he could have driven.
Tommy will always be loved and never forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John (Jack) and Mabel (Argeree Griffin) Harbert; paternal grandparents, Charlie and Birdie Lee (King) Zanders; Margaret Turner, Marion Everhart, Jackie White, JoAnn Brown (aunts); Terry L. and Rena J. Zanders (sisters) and Winston G. Zanders (brother).
Tommy is survived by his mother, Mrs. Melba J. Zanders; Mrs. Jackie Zanders (wife) and Tommy L. West (son); Elias and Ezra West (grandsons) and Emery West (granddaughter); Mrs. Pamela Barrett (Vincient), Ms. Jo M. Zanders, Ms. Earlene Jules (sister), Ms. Brenda Zanders (sister) and David Zanders (brother), and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Corpus Christi Funeral Home, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37,
Corpus Christi, Texas 78410.
