William Anthony Beale, affectionately known as "Tony," passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, in Wilmington, NC, just two days shy of his 61st birthday, after a brave six-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on February 6, 1965, in Wilmington, NC, Tony's life was a testament to simplicity, hard work, and deep faith.

Tony spent his entire life in Wilmington, residing on Dixie Avenue, where he was well-known and loved within his community. A self-employed man of many talents, Tony played an instrumental role at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation, working alongside Doug Bevell to build and expand the business from its inception in 1998. His expertise in construction, electronics, and computers made him an invaluable asset and a true all-around handyman.

Tony had a lifelong passion for classic television shows and was particularly adept at trivia, consistently impressing friends and family with his near-perfect recall of answers on "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune." He cherished the simple pleasures of life, such as enjoying a good cup of coffee and engaging in meaningful conversations with friends.

His faith was central to his life; he was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church before attending Federal Point Pentecostal Church later in life. Tony was devoted to sharing his belief in the importance of salvation and a relationship with Jesus Christ, frequently reiterating his personal motto, "Nothing else matters."

Preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Ruby Beale, and his biological parents, Jack Hardison and Martha Gray Knott Brownie Hardison, Tony is also reunited with his brother Douglas Ray Brownie, Sr. and sisters Betty Ann Brownie, Barbara "Bobbie" Brownie Reynolds, and Debra Brownie Shelley.

He is survived by his beloved sisters, Jacqueline "Jacquie" Shackelford and her husband Rudolph "Shack" of Wilmington, and Carol Williams and her husband Lee of Roanoke Rapids, as well as his brother Charles "Gene" Brownie, Jr. Tony also leaves behind several cherished nieces and nephews who will always remember his warmth and wisdom.

A memorial service in celebration of Tony's life will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Wilmington Funeral Chapel. Friends and family are invited to join in fellowship at a reception following the service.
