Florian J. Tony Hietpas, age 89, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Tony was born on October 6, 1932, in Little Chute. Tony the Milkman was well known and loved for delivering Hietpas Dairy (later Dairyland s Best) products, as well as kindness, conversation and connection, to his many milk route customers. Tony s hard-working spirit and friendly disposition will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Tony grew up helping his dad with the Dairy and after taking over the family business married his sweetheart, Betty Spierings. Betts as Tony lovingly called her, was by his side through it all. Tony and Betty spent 57 wonderful years together and raised two successful children, Lynn and Chuck. Their family grew to include 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren who all brought Tony so many smiles as he watched them grow and play.
Tony loved to take his family camping and taught his kids the beauty and wonder of nature. We played charades, card games and swam till our fingers were wrinkled like raisins. Our long-standing annual camping trip to Solberg Lake in Phillips WI has left lasting memories for all. This family tradition began more than 25 years ago and first exposed the grandchildren to a love of camping and fishing. Awesome campfires, that Grandpa always got going with his fire water lead to late night conversations where Tony shared stories of his youthful escapades and what it was like to grow up the oldest in a large family of hooligans;) He loved bowling (300 Club member!), horseshoes, gardening, hiking, visiting with friends, and meetings at the office with his brothers as they solved the world s problems. In this last year, Tony made many special friends at the Villa. Tony truly made a difference by always being willing to support a friend, neighbor, or family member when they needed a strong helping hand.
We will remember you, Tony, sitting on a bench at High Cliff State Park watching the wind blow through the trees maybe a deer crossing your view reflecting on all the fun times, feeling the love of your family, and welcoming the peace you so deserve. You have lived a TRULY GOOD LIFE!
Tony is survived by his wife, Betty; and two children: Lynn (Ron) Hammen and Chuck (Lynn) Hietpas; grandchildren: Anthony (Kayla) Hietpas, Sarah (Alex) Kirchner, Rachyl Hietpas, Luke Hammen, and Will Hammen; and great grandchildren: Haidyn Rose Kirchner and Gavin James Hietpas. Tony is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
