With deep sadness, our family announces the sudden passing of David Anthony Trabucco. Dave was born in San Francisco to Tony and Edith Trabucco. In his youth, Dave joined Columbia Park Boys Club and attended Mission High School in San Francisco. Dave always had a love of cars growing up, starting with his 1952 Chevy, so he got his body and fender apprenticeship at Les Vogel in San Francisco.

He met the love of his life, Charlene, at the Russian River in 1961. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August and have lived in Santa Rosa since 1967. He joined the California Highway Patrol in 1972, where he was able to continue doing what he loved – driving. During this time, he learned all the roads in Matin, Napa and Sonoma counties, and became a walking Thomas Map guide. He loved looking at maps before any upcoming trips. During his 28 years with the CHP, he rode motors in Los Angeles, and retired while working in Sonoma County. He received the CHP Medal of Valor for rescuing a neighbor from his burning house. He retired from the CHP in 2000.

Dave enjoyed riding horses. He loved trail rides with his family and friends and was a member of the Rincon Valley Riders Club. He enjoyed riding on several Trail Blazers rides. He also helped work cattle with local ranchers in Santa Rosa.

Dave and Charlene joined the Early Ford V8 Club in 1993. While in the club they organized many car tours. Some of them include Nevada City (with themed weekend tours) and Miranda Gardens, with many miles of scenic drives. They also attended numerous car shows and events with their 1947 Ford.

Dave and Charlene took many trips in their time together. They traveled to Alaska, Mexico, and New Orleans by cruise ship. They have also been to Canada in their old car several times. They also attended Hot August Nights in their old Ford.

Dave's greatest joy was his family. He was a true family man who was a big part of his children's and grandchildren's life. From going on motorcycle rides with his son or trail rides with his daughter, to going to the Sonoma County Fair to see them show their livestock. Dave loved all the many wonderful family trips and adventures to Disneyland, San Diego, and Hawaii to name a few.

Dave is survived by his devoted wife Charlene, daughter, Julie Tanaka (and husband Marcus, and their sons Chase and Jared & wife Faith) and son John Trabucco (and wife Jennifer and their children Nicole, Amber and Ty). Preceded in death by his sister Jan, survived by brothers Bill, Dan, and Jim; and many nieces and nephews.

Dave will be missed for his navigation skills, helpfulness, easy going nature, and kindness.

A celebration of life will be held on October 25th at 2:00pm at Santa Rosa Bible Church, 4574 Badger Rd., Santa Rosa.
