It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the unexpected passing of Tracy E. Britt, age 60, who departed this life on Christmas Eve. A resident of Toano, Tracy was a woman of profound strength and devotion whose life was defined by her deep love for her family.
Her Life and Legacy
Born in Louisiana to the late William A. Branch and Lillian A. Branch, Tracy brought the warmth and spirit of her Southern roots with her when she settled in Virginia. She was a nurturing woman, always making sure everyone came first, and she found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved.
Tracy possessed a talent like no other when it came to the kitchen, using her gift to bring family and friends together over shared meals and warm memories. Over her 60 years, she became the heartbeat of her family-a woman who faced life's challenges with incredible resilience and provided a steady foundation of love for those around her. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her kindness left a lasting mark on everyone she met.
Legacy of Love
Tracy will be forever missed and is survived by her daughters, Melinda A. Britt, and Eva (Nicole) Hockaday, and her cherished grandsons, Mitchell Carter and Kayden Lacks, who were the lights of her life. She leaves behind her devoted fiancé of 36 years, Stephen "Onion" Miller, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories. Her love extended to her stepchildren, Sarah Miller, Courtney Carter (Jerry), Michael Miller (Kim), as well as their children all of whom she held dear.
Her spirit also lives on through her sister, Stacy Whitehurst, and her brothers, Huey Branch (Remle) and William "Artie" Branch, and their children. Tracy held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, whom she thought of as her own: John Whitehurst (Maddie), Allison Branch (Wesley), Lillian Whitehurst (Jarred), and Kayla Branch (Anthony) Cassidy Branch, Blake Branch, Kristy Smith, and Katie Nuzzo. She also leaves behind their children, whom she loved and thought of as her own grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by a host of dear friends.
A Heavenly Reunion
Tracy has been peacefully reunited with the loved ones who preceded her in death, her husband, Bruce E. Britt; her son, Bruce E. Britt II; her parents, William A. Branch and Lillian A. Branch; her grandchildren, Mackenzie G. Britt and Jordan Miller; her baby brother, Larry Branch, and many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.
