Michael Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Whiting's Funeral Home - Williamsburg on Jan. 7, 2026.
Mr. Michael Terrell Jones Sr, age 59, made his heavenly transition on December 29, 2025. Michael was born in Williamsburg, Virginia, to the late William Mckinley Jones Sr. and Cora McLoyd Jones.

Michael was raised in Grove, Virginia and attended Lafayette High School. At an early age, Michael was baptized at Saint John's Baptist Church in Toano, Virginia. Affectionately known to friends and family as "Big Mike," he loved to work with his hands and held positions at Home Depot, Slury Pavers, Primoris Gas Company, and Embassy Suites. He also enjoyed building projects, fishing, and football as a die-hard Eagles fan, win or lose! He enjoyed being outside and expressed a love for trucks and motorcycles. Michael was a very involved father and grandfather, and he
absolutely adored his "grandbabies". His favorite saying, which he reminded all of us when warranted that "it is what it is."

He was preceded in death by his parents, William McKinley Jones Sr. and Cora McLoyd Jones; two brothers, Aaron Pounds and William Lively; two sisters, Shirley Walker and Gloria White; and his undeniable K-9 partner, Cody.

At this time of his untimely passing, Michael leaves to cherish his memory three children and daughters-in-love, Brittany Vales, Michael Jones (Dietra Jones), and William Jones (Daizhauna Jones); grandchildren, McKenzie Jones, Allana Lightfoot-Jones, MaKayla Jones, McKinley Jones, Madisyn Jones, Makai Morris, Aniyah Jones, and Mason Jones; sisters, Pamela White, Vanessa Guilory
(Walton Guilory), and Fay Townes; brother, Angus McLoyd; the mother of his children, Pamela Vales; and many other family members and friends.

A service to celebrate Michael's life will be held at Noon on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Little Zion Baptist Church, with a viewing beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
