Visitation will be held at the Jerrett Funeral Home "North York Chapel", 6191 Yonge Street (south of Steeles Avenue) on Monday, January 9, 2012 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church (75 Churchill Avenue, west of Yonge Street) at 10am on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery.

My condolences to the entire Van Mierlo family. I feel priviledged to have known George as a colleague here at PWGSC. Reading the various tributes in this book gives you a sense of the many people he has touched over the short 45 years of his life. Rest in Peace George.

Reading the entries in this guestbook, it is obvious that George was truly one of a kind. I have had the pleasure for working side by side with him 18 of his 25 years of service. Goerge was one of the first individuals I met as a new employee many years back and I thank the lord for that every day. Truly a very close friend, colleague and mentor whom is second to none. To me he was my "work brother" and our shared motto was " Anytime, anyplace, anywhere!!" I will miss him immensely and work will never be the same.
To Antonella and the girls, my deepest sympathies. Take comfort in the fact that George is always with us in our hearts and prayers. You are always welcome here.
To George, you're in good hands now. I love you man! You will not be forgotten........"anytime, anyplace, anywhere!!!"

they say your first childhood fiends are your cousins. that was true for us. we spent a lot of our summers and christmas,s with George and Cindy. One memory that stands out is when we all went camping and George and i took out a rental canoe but had no money.lol. we had to go to our parents after and beg for money and fogiveness. we were about 10 or 12. also we sunk the canoe and had to drag it to shore to refloat it!! Love Bob.

We have lost a great one. George had phenomenal courage, faith and strength.

George and I worked together at Public Works twenty years ago - mostly coordinating opening ceremonies for RCMP detachments across Ontario. He was a great colleague: professional, highly competent, and dedicated. Once George was on the job, you knew it would get done and done well! What's more, you knew you'd have some laughs along the way. He was a good man, and I am very sad to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in their grief.
