It is with heavy hearts but also deep gratitude that we announce the passing of Trampas Patten on August 21, 2025, at the age of 41, following complications from a horseback accident. Trampas was born on November 9, 1983, the first child of Bonnie and Reid Patten. He left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him through his unwavering kindness, adventurous spirit, and deep devotion to his faith, family, and the natural world.

Trampas was a man of many talents and passions. As a child, he loved playing baseball, a sport in which he excelled. When he was about ten years old, Trampas discovered his love for the outdoors. He received his first horse and began going on pack trips in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where he learned the ways of a cowboy from his good friend Bert Weldon. This early exposure to nature sparked a lifelong love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going on backcountry jeep trips, all the while caring deeply about the environment and practicing a holistic approach to nature. His time in the Sierra Nevada Mountains remained one of his greatest loves.

Trampas was also a gifted trumpet player and enjoyed spending time water skiing. His athletic talent shone on the baseball field, and he was on the brink of being drafted as a pitcher for Major League Baseball when an elbow injury changed the course of his future. Instead of pursuing professional sports, Trampas embraced his heritage, following in his father's footsteps by working as a cowboy. He settled in Big Sur, California, and learned livestock management while cultivating his passion for ranching.

In 2009, Trampas welcomed his first child, Conagher, with his wife, Anna Del Bosque. Though their marriage later ended, Trampas embraced fatherhood and worked tirelessly at Rana Creek Ranch in Carmel Valley, where he cared for cattle and raised Conagher. Trampas, encouraged by Conagher, never gave up on finding love. He ventured into the online matchmaking world and eventually, through a message from Adrielle (Ray) from Atascadero, met the woman who would become his wife. They married on October 6, 2017, and soon after began blending their families in Carmel Valley, California. Trampas adopted Matthias as a five-year-old, and together, the couple added Ezekiel (Zeke) to their family in 2019.

In 2022, Trampas and Adrielle were surprised and overjoyed by the birth of their daughter, Haylee. Trampas was absolutely delighted by his baby girl, he called her "Little" because of her petite size, and often joked that she would never marry but would instead become a missionary or a nun. He was a doting father, and his joy in fatherhood grew even deeper with her arrival.

In August 2021, after a life-changing road trip through Idaho, Trampas and his family decided to settle in Challis, Idaho, where Trampas began working for the USDA Wildlife Services. He loved his job assisting ranchers around 3 counties, working in the high mountain country. He was always seeking out the beauty of nature, and feeling closest to God while trekking through the wilderness. He was dedicated to passing on his knowledge of hunting, fishing, survival, and land management to his children, as well as sharing his passion for soil health and holistic farming practices.

A man of deep faith, Trampas lived for Jesus Christ and was committed to teaching his children about God's love. He often spoke of his readiness to be free of pain and trials and to be with the Lord. On July 6th, 2025, he, along with his sons Matthias and Zeke, were baptized in the river-a moment that brought deep joy to Trampas, knowing that he was reborn and right with God.

Trampas was a man who worked hard and lived with integrity. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His love for cowboy folk songs, cozy campfires, and good old-fashioned Dad jokes filled his home with warmth and laughter. He cherished the little things-cherry pie, Christmas snow, and quiet moments with his Bible. His deep, genuine care for others was evident in every conversation. While Trampas was an introvert in large crowds, one-on-one, he would pour his heart into making others feel special and heard. The gift of gab was something he truly possessed, and his storytelling and humor will be missed by all who had the pleasure of spending time with him.

Trampas leaves behind his loving wife, Adrielle, their children Matthias, Zeke, Conagher, and Haylee, his parents Bonnie and Reid Patten, sister Bailee Patten, and many cherished friends and family members. Though he is no longer with us, those who loved him take comfort in knowing that he is free from pain, wrapped in the eternal love of God.

A private memorial service will be held and ashes will be spread at Kaiser Pass in California at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed to Wycliffe Bible Translators or the Savory Institute-two causes that were dear to Trampas' heart.

Trampas, you made an enduring mark on the lives of all who knew you. You will be deeply missed, but we rejoice that you are now home, surrounded by the love and peace of God.

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

– Matthew 6:19-21
