Travis Ryan Christopher

It is with immense heartbreak, that we share the passing of Travis Ryan Christopher. Travis left us on February 6th, 2026 and while it is never easy to lose someone who is so deeply loved, we are grateful that so many friends and family were able to be with him as he deparIt is with immense heated. The hospital room strangely reminded me of being at his home, where every few minutes a new set of faces would come in, people coming from across state lines and county lines to be together in community in this one amazing thing we shared, Travis.

That’s the thing about Travis. He was the glue that brought so many of us together. He had a knack for making people feel included, loved, and special. This was evident even in his early life. One of Travis’ fondest childhood memories was attending Space Camp. While attending Camp, Travis was presented with the Right Stuff Award for not only his ability to befriend just about anyone, but for his intentionality in including others. Travis was a naturally curious person who was excited to learn about different people and places which is why he thrived at Space Camp, but he continued to seek out opportunities to explore through his many, extensive travels across the world.

As a Georgia boy, born in Macon on August 31, 1976, Travis not only moved around his home state, but he traversed the globe. In attending his dear friends, James and Stephanie’s wedding, he visited England, Wales, France, and Switzerland with friends. He and long-time roommate and friend, Rich, traveled to Mexico, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Colombia, Italy, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and finally Ireland. Through these many adventures, Travis made friends, ordered more food than he had any intention of eating, and enjoyed getting to know more about all the beautiful places of the world.

Not only was Travis a beloved friend and world traveler, but he was an incredible artist. He won many awards for his works across mediums including the Lamar Dodd Award from his alma mater, the University of Georgia, international acclaim for his Art of the Can award presented to him by Red Bull, and winning the reality show contest on Wrench Against the Machine with his Bedlam team. Travis created impressive sculptures, beautiful paintings, and detailed metal works. He was incredibly creative and was known to integrate his creativity into a number of facets. He was an award-winning designer who worked in fabrication, mechanics, engineering, and graphic design with a skilled talent in taking the incredible ideas he had in his head and making them a reality with material and form. Travis was a builder. You could often hear him say “I could build that” or “I could make that.” Following such remarks typically led to a trip to Lowes with fellow friend and carpenter, Jason. They would work very hard on shopping, assisting others at Lowes as if they worked there, eating lunch, and then if time and any energy allowed, getting to the actual project.

Despite his award winning career in design and art, Travis’ most coveted canvas was in fact, his yard. He meticulously tended to each blade of grass and leaf. No other yard in the neighborhood could rival his and he worked hard to keep it that way. Travis is one the least judgemental people you would ever meet with one exception. Your lawn. He was quick to assess what was lacking in your backyard, but equally quick to help you address the atrocity. And after a good day of work in the sunshine, he might award you with a “purple.”

Travis is known for never turning down a Hot Now sign glowing at Krispy Kreme or an absolutely terrible dad joke. Speaking of terrible jokes, there was never a shortage of laughter, especially when you got Travis and Bill together. They heckled each other with the love and warmth of brothers rather than life-long friends. But he is probably best known for his love. Travis and his wonderful wife and life partner, Dana, blessed us with the most beautiful gift before his passing, a sweet little girl, Vada. Travis was most proud and most smitten with this work of art, his daughter. Travis saw the beauty in the world. This made him an amazing designer and artist, but it also made him an amazing friend, husband, son, brother, and father. Because Travis didn’t care about all the things that made us imperfect. He sought out the light in all of us and chose to see beauty instead. This is what makes it so difficult to say goodbye.

Travis is survived by his wife, Dana Lynn Christopher, children Oz Weatherholt, Lola Weatherholt, and Vada Christopher, parents Rockwell and Julie Davis, Cecil and Cheryl Christopher, siblings Meghan Cornelius and Clayton Christopher, and nieces and nephew, Elizabeth and George Cornelius and Mikayla Crush and honorary niece and nephew Mary Kate and Random White. Those who preceded him and are likely now rejoicing in his company are his loyal and sweet pup, Kemper, dear grandparents Madison and Judy Hortman, Cecil and Eloise Christopher, and the rest of his thumb.
