Ellen W Allison

Ellen W. Allison, 83 of Shiloh, GA died Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Warm Springs Nursing Home in Warm Springs, GA.

Ms. Allison was born March 24, 1942, in Roanoke, AL. Ms. Allison was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a journalism degree. Her first job was working in the U. S. House of Representatives for Rep. Jack Flynt in Washington, DC. She later worked and retired in the banking industry for the Federal National Mortgage Association Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as a Regional Vice President. She worked for Sun Trust Bank in Atlanta also. While living in Washington she and her former husband owned and operated a tour guide service around Washington, DC and she wrote and published a book about the sights and attractions in Washington. After her retirement she moved back to Georgia and was very active in working for Habitat for Humanity in many capacities. She was preceded in death by her parents Stephen Walker her father who passed away when she was two years old, and Henry Griffin the father that raised her and her mother Rita Alderman Griffin, her grandparents Gordon and Clyde Alderman.

She is survived by her sister Helen Pridgen of Columbus, GA, brother Tom Griffin of Shiloh, GA, nieces and nephews Lindsey (Matt) Moorefield, Taylor (Heather) Griffin all of Pine Mountain, GA, Trent (Sydney) Griffin of Shiloh, GA, Karen (Ray) Montgomery, of Columbus, GA, Neal (Nancy) Pridgen of Kennesaw, GA and Susan (Scott) Pratt all of Columbus, GA, several great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Ms. Allison will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Manchester, GA. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm- 2:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be private in the Meriwether Memory Gardens following the service.

The family request that in lieu of flowers contributions be given in memory of Ellen W. Allison to the Meriwether County Habitat for Humanity.

Cox Funeral Home, Manchester, GA will be in charge of the arrangements.
