Thomas Melvin Carlisle, Sr., 76, of Shiloh, died Saturday, September 6, 2025 at his residence.

"Tommy," as he was best known, was born in Butler, GA on October 26, 1948, the son of George Thomas Carlisle and Clarice Mae Whitley Carlisle. Following his high school graduation, he served his country honorably in the U. S. Army. He retired as a technician with both Manchester Cotton Mills and Goody. He then retired from the Harris County School System as a technician and custodian. A lifelong resident of Shiloh and Harris county, Mr. Carlisle was a pillar of the local community who never met a stranger. He was a dedicated member of Old Shiloh Baptist Church, where he once served as the song leader. He was a tinkerer and fixer, and could always come up with a way to fix something himself. He loved music, particularly country and gospel. He found joy in cutting his grass. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Melvin Carlisle, Jr.; and brothers Reese and Steve Carlisle.

He is survived by his wife, Inamae Carlisle of Shiloh; son, Timothy "Roho" (Dawn) Carlisle of Shiloh; grandchildren, David Carlisle, Cloie (Robert) Carlisle, Jeffery (Tiffany) Swann, Katie Swann, and Kristle (Jacob) Rumph; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jeremy Carlisle, Chris Carlisle, Lamar Carlisle, Waymon Carlisle, and Vanessa Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family in Alabama and Georgia.

The Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Old Shiloh Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Old Shiloh Baptist Church.
