Travis James Coop

Travis was born on February 11, 1980, and left us far too soon on September 6, 2025, at the age of 45. To all who knew him, Travis was a bright light-his laughter was infectious, and his voice grew increasingly louder, especially when he was talking about his kids, whom he loved more than anything.

From a young age, Travis's heart belonged to the farm. He was his dad's shadow, tagging along for chores and climbing onto tractors before he could even see over the steering wheel. When his brother Aaron arrived, Travis gained not just a sibling but a lifelong best friend. Together, they turned the farm into their playground-building forts out of hay bales, wrestling in the loft, and playing with their robust collection of miniature farm equipment, even sometimes letting "Sis" play too. They had many adventures together, and while their ideas weren't always the best their loyalty to each other was unwavering. Travis was the kind of big brother who always had Aaron's back, through every high and low.

As he grew older, Travis and his dad shared many early mornings hunting pheasants and deer, memories that became cherished traditions. He later became a hunting guide, hunting birds with his dog Missy, and sharing this love with friends from near and far.

Racing was another passion that ran deep. As a boy, Travis watched Uncle Jeff's race car compete at the track, dreaming of the day he'd race himself. That dream came true, and he spent countless weekends at local tracks, cheered on by two of his favorite pit crew members-his kids, Hannah and Hunter (lovingly called Harv). Through racing, Travis made lifelong friends and unforgettable memories.

Above all, Travis was a devoted father. He adored Hannah and Hunter, and nothing made him prouder than watching them grow. He loved taking them out on the tractor and combine, sharing his passion for farming with Hunter and beaming at Hannah's accomplishments and her radiant smile.

Words can't capture all that Travis meant to his family and friends. His absence leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. He will be deeply missed by his father, Tracy Coop of Portis; his mother Kay Mercer and husband Mike of Edmond, OK; his beloved children, Hannah and Hunter, and their mother Ashley Campbell of Cawker City. Also mourning his loss are his sister Jenae Sherrod and husband Scott of Edmond, OK; his grandmother Bonnie Coop of Osborne; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends and extended family. Travis is preceded in death by his brother, Aaron Coop.

A memorial service to celebrate Travis's life will be held on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, at 10:00am at the United Methodist Church in Osborne, KS.

There will be a luncheon following the celebration of life service at the Sims Event Center and the family would welcome side dish donations be brought.
