Travis Fox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Isburg Funeral Chapels - Pierre on Dec. 9, 2025.
Travis Long Fox, a spirited soul known for his humor, earned his wings on November 7, 2025, in Sioux Falls, SD.
An overnight wake will begin with a gathering at 5:00pm on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Lakota Chapel in Pierre, and continue with a wake service at 7:00pm and conclude with a Memorial Service at 11:00am on Friday, December 12, 2025.
Travis was born on December 31, 1991, in Pierre, SD, to Nancy Duffel and Duane Long Fox. Travis's early years were spent surrounded by the love of his family in Pierre and Onida. His childhood was enriched by the bonds he shared with his siblings: Dwight Long Fox of Onida, Tosha Good Shield of Onida, Blaine Duffel of Pierre, Shane Duffel of Watertown, SD, and Brayden Duffel of Onida. He was an uncle to Dwayne Good Shield, Sarina Good Shield, Sophia Long Fox, and Isabella Long Fox and although he rarely saw them in person, he maintained an almost daily presence in their lives through phone calls and Facetime. The Barney theme song will always make them think of Travis.
A graduate of Sully Buttes High School in 2010, Travis was intelligent and his academic prowess earned him a scholarship to the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology. Throughout his life, Travis held various jobs. He was always know for being a jokester and making people laugh.
A passionate sports fan, he could often be seen cheering for the Green Bay Packers. He loved the thrill of the game, whether he was a spectator or participating himself, with basketball holding a special place in his heart. His love extended beyond the courts to the quiet allure of nature. He enjoyed the beauty of the Black Hills and fishing. He was also known to be a good cook.
Travis will be deeply missed by his parents, sibling, nieces and nephew as well as his surviving grandfather, Steve Novak, and his extended family of numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, who will continue to cherish his memory.
Travis was preceded in death by his grandparents Diane Novak, Marlene Long Fox, and Dale Crandall; an infant sister, Sarrina; a brother-in-law, Cordell Good Shield; an uncle, Bryan Long Fox; and an aunt, Daleen (Long Fox) Johnson. They have now welcomed him into eternal peace.
Travis Long Fox was truly funny, exceedingly intelligent, and ever so adventurous. His story may have ended too soon, but he will be remembered forever.
