Travis Bernard Way was born on August 26, 1974, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to Frederick Douglas Way, Sr., and Dollie Ruth (Edwards) Way. He was the eldest of their two sons. He shared his childhood with his younger brother, Frederick D. Way, Jr.

Travis graduated from Peach County High School in Fort Valley, Georgia. Afterwards, he attended Polytechnic State University (which is now Kennesaw State University) with a bachelor's in Electrical Engineering. Years later, he graduated from CGTC with a diploma in drafting. Subsequently, he became an adjunct teacher for drafting and engineering. Also, he was a member of the Greater Cathedral of Praise Ministries in Fort Valley. He attended and participated in church as much as his time and health allowed. Furthermore, he enjoyed traveling, exercising, and playing with his puppies.

Travis was a devoted family man. He was husband to LaNita (Fussell) Way, and father to Minah Simone Way. He sacrificed so much to ensure his family was well-taken care of. Minah was his pride and joy, and there was nothing too big or small for her to ask that he would not exhaust his energy or resources to achieve for her.

In addition to his family's devotion, Travis will be remembered for the relentless effort and ingenuity he brought to his career as an electrical engineer. Early on, he was employed as a government contractor before eventually landing his dream job as a civil service employee of the Federal government. Throughout his career, he made himself indispensable as he gained competency with his unique skill set. He also made several friends with his colleagues and coworkers.

Travis succumbed to an extended illness and walked hand in hand with Jesus into eternity on September 17, 2025. Though he no longer suffers in his physical body here on earth, he will be greatly missed.

Travis was such a good guy. We sat near each other in the C-5 area. I will miss his smile and his sweet temperament. My condolences to his family and to those of us who worked with him in C-5. He will be truly missed.
