TRAVIS WOLLENBERG Obituary

TRAVIS WOLLENBERG 10/17/1946 - 07/14/2025 Travis Saxon Wollenberg was born on October 17, 1946, in Purcell, Okla., to Paul Wollenberg Jr. and Leona (Travis) Wollenberg. He left this world and entered into Heaven on July 14, 2025, at the age of 78 years. Upon completion of high school Travis continued his education at Oklahoma State University where he received a Bachelor's degree. He worked many years as the ag teacher at Cyril Schools. But ultimately found his calling as pastor where he shared God's word for more than 30 years. Travis married Cheri DeArman on July 31, 1965, in Paoli, Okla. (The couple would've celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in just a few days.) Travis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a family man who enjoyed order. Travis was also a farmer, raising sheep and cattle. He enjoyed working and using his hands and riding horses. He enjoyed mowing and being outside. Travis was a highly respected man, a man of his word. He was a humble man of God and he will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Travis' honor to either Parkinson Foundation, PO Box 61420, Staten Island, NY 10306 or Baptist Children's Home, 300 Johnny Bench Dr., Ste 450, Oklahoma City, OK 73104. Travis is survived by loving wife, Cheri Wollenberg; son, Eddie Wollenberg and Kristi of Ada, Okla.; daughter, Rachelle Helmbacher of Shawnee, Okla.; brother Harry Wollenberg and Debbie of Purcell; sisters, Paula Riddle of Keller, Texas, and Melanie Blackwell and Rick of Chandler, Okla. grandchildren: Chad Wollenberg and Lindsay of Chickasha, Okla., Hannah Murphy and Patrick of Boone, Iowa, Emma Holden and Gentry of Lindsay, Okla., Cole Wollenberg of Ada, Jason Issac Helmbacher of Shawnee, CD Wollenberg of Ada; great-grandchildren: Reid Wollenberg, Deacon Wollenberg, Paxton Wollenberg, and Laurel Kate Murphy; and countless friends. Travis is preceded in death by: parents, Paul Wollenberg Jr. and Leona Wollenberg; son-in-law, Jason Helmbacher; and brother-in-law, Jerry Riddle. Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Maysville, Okla. Burial at Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Okla. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com.

Mr. Wallenberg brightened wherever he was. He was always nice and a slight bit ornery. As my chemistry teacher, he demonstrated his orneriness and that acetone (one of the liquids used in our experiment) smelled like nail polish remover because it was nail polish remover. Unfortunately, my newly applied red nail polish did not survive his demonstration but it created a funny memory. Cheri, may God and many happy memories comfort you and your family.
