Trice Sampson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Partlow Funeral Chapel - Lebanon on Nov. 19, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Albert "Trice" Sampson was born on April 14, 1938, in Lebanon, Tennessee. He entered his heavenly rest on November 17, 2025, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, after a long and courageous battle with vascular dementia.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Lounita Dedmon Sampson; his son Randy (Pam) Sampson of Lebanon, Tennessee; his daughters Regina (Rob) Harper of Mulberry, Florida, and Mary (Kyle) Wright of Lebanon; his special niece, who lived with them for a time, Leigh Ann (Charles) Lasater; his grandchildren Hope Sampson, Rachel (Timmy) Mitchell, Luke (Kayla) Sampson, Rob (Taylor) Harper, Ryan (Zoe) Harper, Levi Sampson, Karlee Wright, and Will Wright; and his great-grandchildren Harper Mitchell, Marley Mitchell, Hallie Sampson, Susie Sampson, Millie Jo Harper, and Josie Harper; and his sister-in-law Joyce Sampson (Julian).

Trice was preceded in death by his father, Albert Sampson; his mother, Laura Jane Trice Sampson; his sister, Willie Jane Sampson Jackson; his brother-in-law Odell Jackson; his brother Julian Sampson; and his nieces Eugenia Lynn Jackson and Jana Dell Jackson.

Trice was a man whose life reflected his deep and abiding faith. He built a lasting legacy through the family he adored and the Christ-like example he set each day. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast, playing basketball for Lebanon High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1955. Throughout his life, he delighted in watching his children and grandchildren compete in various sports, always cheering them on from the sidelines. Trice also loved college football and remained a loyal fan of the Vanderbilt Commodores and Brave's baseball-faithfully supporting them even through the rough years.

Trice attended Middle Tennessee State College, where he joined the ROTC and earned a degree in business. After graduation, he served in the Tennessee Army Reserves, fulfilling his commitment to the Army and achieving the rank of Lieutenant from 1955 to 1967. He dedicated more than three decades to TRW, serving primarily as an Inventory Control Manager. His career reflected the same steady integrity that shaped every part of his life.

A faithful servant in his church community, Trice served as an Elder at Maple Hill Church of Christ from 1991 to 2014. He was known for his wisdom, compassion, his spirit, and his heart for reaching the lost. His life was a quiet testimony of humility, kindness, and unwavering devotion to God and others.

Those who knew Trice will remember him as a man of deep character, steadfast faith, and a great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. Though his absence leaves a profound void, his legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the example he set, and the countless lives he touched. His loved ones remain forever grateful for the love, wisdom, and devotion he so generously shared.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Mitchell, Luke Sampson, Rob Harper, Ryan Harper, Levi Sampson, Will Wright, Charles Lasater, and Clark Sampson. Honorary pallbearers will include the current and former elders and their wives that served with Trice at Maple Hill; Randal "Boss Hog" and Janis Henry, Ron and Diane Welch, Elaine Widick, Vicky Simpson, Joyce Fox, and Judy Bentley.

A special thanks is given to Virginia Kirkendoll, Tammy Noreault, and Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maple Hill Benevolence or Gentiva Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 21st, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 22nd, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Hill Church of Christ. Mike Wamble and Adam Nowles will officiate.
