Our precious wife, mother and grandmother, Trina M. Smith, 67, of Lambert, MS, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
The family will be celebrating Trina’s life on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home at 3:30pm. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service beginning at 1:30pm.
Trina was born on September 22, 1958, in Marks, MS to Larue and Evone White. She was the baby of the family and deeply loved by her parents and siblings, Sissy, Debbie and Benny. Trina attended West Panola High School in Batesville, MS and would later earn her nursing degree at Northwest Community College.
Trina spent 30 years serving her community as a nurse, directing the Continue Care Home Health offices in Marks, Charleston and Clarksdale, a reflection of her deep and selfless commitment to taking care of others. It is through her career as a nurse that she touched countless lives, both co-workers and patients. She loved her work family, her patients and their families and was saddened when her illness led to her early retirement. Her life was rooted in service and compassion.
While she was a wonderful nurse, she was an even better homemaker and mother. She raised her children to love God and provided a powerful example of faith throughout her life. Yet, nothing could compare to the immense joy her grandchildren provided her. Her role as “Nannie” was her most favorite, and she reveled in it.
Trina had the good fortune of reconnecting with a childhood sweetheart, Gary Smith, after the passing of her late husband. Together, Gary and Trina built a wonderful life surrounded by family and happiness. It was her loving marriage to Gary that would provide comfort during her journey with cancer.
Trina will be remembered for her laughter, her mischievousness and her quick wit. She was hysterically funny and always provided a good time. Her spirit will live on in all those that were fortunate to know her.
Trina is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Smith of Lambert, MS; loving children, Summers Robertson (Kevin) of Nolensville, TN, Amber Mills (Brian) of Enid, MS, Zachary Bailey (Megan) of Lambert, MS, Cody Smith (Megan) of Olive Branch, MS, Devin Smith (Todd) of Arlington, TX and Cassey Williams (Stephen) of Fort Walton Beach, FL; fifteen grandchildren, Jadon, Emma, Finley, Madeline, James, Saydee, Garrott, Easton, Mary Payton, Peyton, Kyle, Gage, Jae, Roman, and Riley; and four great-grandchildren, along with countless other family members and friends who she cherished.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her son, Ryan Meek.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers you make a memorial contribution in Trina’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
