Trinidad UMIPIG Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 29, 2017.
Trinidad Asejo Umipig was born December 6, 1926 to Juan and Paula Asejo of Manila, Philippine Islands. Both parents are deceased.

Married Salvador Pascua Umipig, June 16, 1945 while stationed in the Philippines during WWII. Trinidad joined her husband in Wapato, Washington in 1948 and helped out on his farm for 11 years until disaster hit their would-be beautiful crop, just when it was ready to be harvested. They were both devastated, to say the least.

Trinidad then started to work for Del Monte Corporation in Yakima and Toppenish for 25 years. During the off-season and for several years, she worked for the Wapato Evaporator, processing pears and apples. She retired from working in canneries when she was 68 years old to take care of her ailing husband.

She was a dedicated, longtime member and officer of the Yakima Valley Filipino Community Women's Auxiliary. She held the office of President for 6 years and the office of Auditor for 2 years.

Trinidad was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church from 1948 until she moved to Yakima in 2007. She attended St. Paul's Cathedral in Yakima from 2007 until she passed away on December 22, 2017. Trinidad was a member of the Legion of Mary for many years.

Trinidad enjoyed sewing and crocheting until her sight started to fail. She loved working in her vegetable garden and enjoyed cooking, especially for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed meeting with good friends for frequent out of town trips.

She is survived by 4 children and their spouses, Linda and Jacob Moll, Lillian and Richard Hoard, Ruth and Gregg Broyles, and Michael and Pamela Umipig. She was preceded in death by her son Constante Umipig, who died when he was 9 months old, and her husband, Salvador P. Umipig, who passed away after a long battle of lung issues and heart failure. Trinidad had 3 sisters and their spouses, Marta and Candido Pascua, Concepcion and Agustiin Ocampo, and Bella and Jaime Seminiano. Trinidad had 3 brothers, Rodolfo Asejo and Abelardo Asejo, both living in the Philippine Islands, and Manuel and Flora Asejo, who live in Hawaii. In addition to her brothers and sisters, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, 8 grandchildren, Tony Moll, Larissa Moll Newman, Christopher Deaderick, Lianne Ramirez, Tani Umipig, Jonathan Umipig, Calli Umipig, and Alexander Broyles, and 6 grandchildren, Jamilynn Cavallo, Kingston Cardenas, Jacob Newman, Alyssa Neman, and Madison Newman.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arthritis Foundation at arthritis.org.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Paul Cathedral, with interment following at Reservation Community Memorial Park in Wapato. To share a memory of Trinidad visit www.lepfuneralhome.com.

Dear Cousins, your Mom, my Auntie, was one of the nicest people I have ever met.. She always had a smile on her face when I came to visit her and we'd laugh.
I will miss her and our phone conversations... But she was able to go on her terms and I thank God for that.. I am so grateful I got to talk with her before she went to be with Uncle. I will always remember her....

Trini was my mother's neighbor at Englewood Gardens for a number of years and was always a delight to see when I visited my mom. Trini always had a big smile and I loved to make her laugh. She was a sweet lady and I will miss her being there next to my mom.
