Tristan Samuel McKnight, 17, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 20, 2025, at his home.
Tristan was born November 1, 2007, in American Fork, Utah, to Samuel Begin McKnight and Rebecca Lynn Olson McKnight. He grew up in Minnesota, Utah, Texas, and Idaho. His last school of attendance was Bonneville High School. He ran cross country, track and field, played the upright bass and base guitar in the orchestra and jazz band. He decided to finish high school early and achieved his GED at 16 years old. Tristan also worked full time as a technician for Fybercom.
Tristan was a devout Christian. In his free time, he enjoyed riding horses, working on his car, fishing, and playing airsoft with friends.
Tristan is survived by his parents, Samuel and Rebecca McKnight of Idaho Falls; siblings, Alexander James McKnight, Katherine Rebecca McKnight, Henry Thomas McKnight, Sara Elizabeth McKnight, all of Idaho Falls; grandfather, Thomas Harold McKnight; grandmother, Betty Patricia McKnight; grandfather, Michael Lynn Olson; and grandmother, Carol Evelyn Olson.
Tristan was preceded in death by his sister, Vivian Bluebell McKnight.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, at Christ Community Church, 5742 South 5th West, with Pastor Patrick Murphy officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Friday from 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery.
In honor of Tristan, please feel free to come dressed in your casual cowboy attire.
