TRISTAN SCHMITZ Obituary

TRISTAN SCHMITZ 10/31/1995 - 12/13/2025 Tristan Kevin Schmitz, 30, of Granite Falls (formerly of Oakes, N.D.), passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in the arms of his loving wife, surrounded by friends and family in Rochester. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Granite Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. The family asks that you wear Vikings, Bears, Twins, or casual apparel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a cash donation to the family to use for medical bills and funeral expenses. Tristan Schmitz was born on October 31, 1995, to Mari and Kevin Schmitz in Oakes. He attended and graduated from Oakes High School in 2014. Tristan wrestled for many years and enjoyed spending time on the mat. Tristan placed 2nd in the State wrestling tournament. After high school, he worked over the road (including working on the reconstruction of I-94), worked with family, and spent lots of time with family and friends. He loved spending time at the lake with them. In 2020, Tristan met the love of his life, Brooke. On October 14, 2023, Tristan married Brooke Blue in Granite Falls. Tristan and Brooke loved to watch movies, attend Twins games, and spend time with family and friends in the pool or by a bonfire. They enjoyed traveling together and some of their most memorable travels included trips to Maine and Colorado. He supported Brooke in all of her endeavors, including supporting her work and being present at all WRAP events. Tristan was always dancing, waiting for Brooke to join him. Tristan had many hobbies, but his favorites included fishing, collecting baseball and football cards, and stickers. The man loved his stickers. He loved listening to music and finding new music to dance to with Brooke, or finding a song to sing on karaoke at Tolley's. He also enjoyed cheering on the White Sox and Bears (he always said he was a Bears fan, but we all know secretly deep down he loved the Vikings). Grateful for having shared in his life is his loving wife, Brooke Schmitz of Granite Falls and his fur babies and pride and joy, Mildred and Wallace; his parents, Kevin Schmitz of Oakes and Mari Schmitz of Foreman, N.D.; his parents-in-law, Vicki and Russ Blue of Granite Falls; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jedd and Melina; nieces (the ones who had him wrapped around their fingers), Meadow and Eliza Blue; maternal grandma, Audrey Christianson and special friend Frank of Fargo, N.D.; paternal grandpa, Grant Schmitz of Oakes; his best friends, Tanner Kosen and Braden Hollingsworth; his beloved Rock family and happy hour crew; and many aunts, uncles, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandma, Verna Schmitz; maternal grandpa, Harvey Christianson; and uncle-in-law, Doak Cobenias. Blessed be his memory.
