Troy J. Banks, age 97, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
Mr. Banks was born on May 25, 1928, in Buncombe County where he had lived all his life. He retired from Carolina Power and Light with 40 years of service. Troy was a dedicated softspoken Christian, faithfully serving the Lord as deacon, church treasurer, and by example to everyone he met.
He was the son of the late Willis and Bonnie Allen Banks. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years, Betty Grace Roberts Banks; son, David Banks; sisters, Wilma Killian, Sue Bradley and Linda Shatzer; and brothers, Willard and Floyd Banks.
Surviving are his wife, Katie Ledford Banks whom he married in 2007; his daughters, Elaine Ingle and husband, David, and Sandra Koontz and husband, Dan; daughter in law, Jo Ann Banks; step son, Buddy Stines and wife, Juanita and Joseph Richey; and brothers, Edgar Banks, Ralph Banks, and A.D. Banks; seven grandchildren, Christy McCary, Kelly Banks, Adam and Peter Koontz, Aaron and Alex Ingle and Max Stines; fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Reverend Troy Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:15 pm to 2:15 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
