Trudy Rae (Barnett) Markum was born on February 11, 1950, an only child to Dorothy June (Thomas) and Raymond Leonard Barnett. Her mother later married Robert "Bob" Wiggins who raised Trudy and walked her down the aisle at her wedding. On February 1, 1969, Trudy married the love of her life, Michael Timothy Markum, in Raytown, MO. On March 14, 1970, Trudy was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She entered the full-time service becoming a regular pioneer in 1980. Trudy found much enjoyment in teaching people about God and helping them to dedicate their lives to Jehovah. Many of those individuals served side by side with Trudy in the ministry until her death. In 1990, she began working at the American Academy of Family Physicians and continued there until 2010 when she retired. Upon retirement, she once again entered the regular pioneer service doing what she loved. Trudy had an extreme love for her grandchildren whom she affectionately called her baby's babies. She was especially proud of the bond she had with Winter, being able to be involved in her daily life and upbringing.
Trudy fell asleep in death at her home in Oak Grove, MO on March 8, 2023. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Michael Timothy Markum, and her three sons Michael Joel (Dawn), Daniel Macrae (Tammy), Kelly Scott (Jeni) Markum, her 6 grandchildren Michaela, Aurora, Winter, Alena, Landon, and Dylan Markum, extended family and friends.
There will be a Memorial Service for Trudy at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 6001 Foggy Bottom Dr, Bates City, MO on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 3:00 pm. The Zoom link for the Memorial is:
