Gertrude “Trudy” Smith, of Trenton, GA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born on April 9, 1942, to Elmer and Mattie Lou Smith, Trudy was a strong, independent woman who lived a full life grounded in faith, family, and hard work. A proud and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Trudy found her greatest joy in time spent with her family—especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
She was known for her determined spirit, her love of shopping, and her fondness for traveling to the beach. Trudy was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and a steady presence in the lives of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Smith; her parents, Elmer and Mattie Lou Smith; and her daughter, Colette Smith.
Left to honor her memory are her children, Andrea (Thomas) Wynn, Greg (Mary) Smith, and Bobby (Bonnie) Smith; sisters, Alma Duggard, Linda Case, and Sherry Talley; brothers, Leroy Smith and Garland Smith; grandchildren, Wes Abercrombie, Kassi Grobbel, and Joe Smith; great-grandchildren, Noah and Landon Abercrombie; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 AM on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Smith Family Cemetery.
Trudy will be dearly missed by her family and all who had the privilege to know her.
