Published by Legacy on Dec. 9, 2025.
Tyrone Clifford "Ty" Stiffarm, 46, passed away on December 5, 2025, in Ft Belknap, Montana. Born on April 25, 1979, in Ft Belknap to Frankie Johnson and Emerson Stiffarm, Sr, where he remained closely connected to his roots throughout his life.
Tyrone attended Harlem High School and also spent time at Lander Valley High School in Wyoming. His early years were marked by a strong work ethic and a willingness to take on various roles to support himself and those around him. One of his first jobs was as a custodian at the Ft Belknap Tribal Offices, a position he took pride in. Over the years, Tyrone held numerous jobs that reflected both his adaptability and dedication. He worked at McDonald's and Super Foods Grocery in Polson, Montana; at the Maverick store and Big O Tire in Wyoming; and even took on the demanding work of an oil rig laborer. Later, he returned to Ft Belknap where he worked at the Kwik Stop.
Beyond his work life, Tyrone found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful connections. He loved fishing and swimming-activities that brought him peace and allowed him to enjoy the outdoors. An avid fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, he cheered proudly for his team. Music was another constant companion in his life, providing comfort and peace.
Above all else, Tyrone cherished time spent with his three daughters, Tai'La, Tiyanna, and Precious. Being around them brought him happiness and purpose. He was always a kid at heart (playful, goofy, and full of life) and that spirit helped him connect easily with children and adults alike. He had a big heart and plenty of love to give, and he always made room for everyone.
Those who knew him will remember his kind heart, caring nature, loving spirit, and ever-present sense of humor that could brighten any room. Tyrone was embraced by his community. People looked out for him and took care of him, a testament to the relationships he built and the love he gave.
Tyrone is survived by his daughters, Tai'La Dawn (David) Stiffarm, Tiyanna Paradise (Janeisa) Stiffarm, and Precious Whispern Wind Stiffarm; grandchildren, Onnaveigha and Ma'Teo Dewey; and siblings, Lyle Stiffarm, Rob Johnson, Roxanne Johnson, Zeke Johnson, Sheila Stiffarm, Gary Stiffarm, and Jackie Stiffarm.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Florine "Frankie" Johnson; his father, Emerson Stiffarm, Sr.; brother, Emerson Stiffarm, Jr.; and sisters, Adeline Stiffarm and Laurie Stiffarm; maternal grandparents, Josephine (FirstRaised) Johnson and Clifford Johnson, and paternal grandparents, Mae Shortman and Paul Stiffarm.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire kindness in others.
