Ursula Mary (Roper) Boardman, age 86, entered eternal peace with her family by her side, on February 20, 2025, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, CT.

Born in Liverpool, England on May 11, 1938, she was the daughter of Francis and Mary (Nolan) Roper. She moved to the United States with her husband, William Boardman, and oldest daughter, Fiona, in 1966, landing in Augusta, Maine. They soon moved to Derby, CT and finally settled in Southington, where she resided for the rest of her life.

After many years, as a stay-at-home Mom, she divorced and reentered the work force, working in various industries including electrical and insurance. After retirement, she took temp positions with the Red Cross and Easter Seals and was a Literacy Volunteer. Ursula was a long-time parishioner at St. Dominic’s Church and her faith was very important to her. She was a private and independent woman whose daily routine began with a stop for coffee, before driving to a local park to watch the birds and complete her crossword puzzle. Her other pastimes included jigsaw puzzles, and crafting and she was often busy with a knitting project. She had a green thumb and filled her home with plants and floral decorations as well as her MANY butterflies. Ursula was an avid watcher of true crime television and was on her computer every day keeping up with current events and the political landscape.

But the most important part of her life was her family. She especially enjoyed catching up with her grandchildren and was incredibly proud of them. She is survived by her three children: Fiona (Ronald) Dellostritto of Cheshire, Tina (Jason) Rosenthal of Colchester, and Peter Boardman of Philadelphia and 5 grandchildren, Neal, Dylan, Mark, Sara, and Cecilia, and her sister-in-law, Susan Roper of Wales. The eldest of her family, she was predeceased by her 5 brothers and sisters: Bernard, Joan, Michael, and two infant siblings, Pauline and Maureen.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Hospital of Central Connecticut for their compassionate care in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/) or to St. Luke’s Parish, 99 Bristol St, Southington, CT 06489. Please also consider making a blood donation through the American Red Cross in her memory.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at St. Dominic’s Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington.
