V. James Osnato
V. James Osnato, age 88, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, January 18, 2026. He was the devoted and beloved husband of Margarita (Oyanadel) Osnato, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. Born on September 20, 1937, in San Paolo, Italy, Jim was the son of the late Frank and Christine Osnato.
In addition to his wife Margarita, the love of his life whom he cherished above all else, Jim is survived by his sons, Frank Osnato and his wife Nicole of Prospect, and Steven Osnato and his wife Tricia DeCarlo of Thomaston; his grandchildren, Steven Osnato, Nicole Osnato, and Noel Hinman; his great-grandchildren, Steven, Kaia, and Sienna Osnato; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren from his extended family. He is also survived by his brother, Albino Osnato, and his sister, Pina Saggese, both of Italy, along with many nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his brothers, Angelo and Pasquale Osnato.
Jim's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Visiting Angels, especially Juliet Jameson and Angel Zuma, for their exceptional care, compassion, and dedication.
Jim's funeral will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 186 Main Street, Winsted. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Winsted. Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow Street, Waterbury. Memorial contributions in Jim's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959. My heart goes out to my Tia Maggie and KIDS Frank and Steve. My best memories, going fishing in an old boat and repairing my old car, thank you forever.
Your dad commanded a remarkable life by using his heart by loving with all his capacity.

To Mr. Osnato's family,
I am deeply sorry for your loss.. Mr. Osnato was my teacher at Kaynor Tech from 97-99. Mr. Osnato i wanna thank you for making me finish school without you I couldn't of done it (school just wasn't my thing).. You were a man of your word . I'm happy that I was able to run into you at Crabby Als in Thomaston to thank you for helping me get through school and argue with Mr. Axon (vice principle)over me lol.. Thank you again, I will see you on the other side someday
