Valdor LaPaix, known affectionately as Valdor by those who knew him best, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on August 22, 1943, in the picturesque town of Petit-Goave, Valdor spent his final moments surrounded by the love and warmth of his family in Paterson, New Jersey. His departure was one of tranquility, succumbing to natural causes in the comfort of his home.

Valdor's life was a testament to his unwavering faith and the Christian values he held dear. His compassionate spirit was evident to all through his dedicated service as the Chief of Human Services for mentally challenged adults. His work not only showcased his generous heart but also his courageous nature, facing challenges head-on for the betterment of others. Valdor's contributions to society extended beyond his professional life, as he shared his wisdom and kindness, leaving a lasting impact on the community he served.

He was a loving husband to his wife, Marie LaPaix, and a guiding light to his two sons, Jude and Valdner LaPaix. Valdor's presence as a family man was the cornerstone of their lives, providing unwavering support, laughter, and love in ample measure. His legacy within his family is an enduring one, marked by cherished memories and lessons of love and resilience.

Valdor's pursuit of knowledge led him to attain some college education, which fueled his lifelong love of learning and understanding. This intellectual curiosity was matched by his passion for soccer, a sport he enjoyed watching fervently. Valdor's enthusiasm for the game spanned across borders, reveling in the excitement of matches from all corners of the globe.

His interests, however, always came second to the joy he found in spending time with his family and loved ones. Valdor's home was often filled with the sounds of laughter and the warmth of shared stories. He believed in the power of togetherness and the strength it provided, often reminding those around him that "The only thing we never get enough of is love; and the only thing we never give enough of is love." This quote by Henry Miller encapsulates the essence of Valdor's approach to life.

Valdor will be remembered as the epitome of a loving, courageous, and generous individual. His presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his absence will be deeply felt. Though he has departed from this earthly realm, the values he embodied and the love he shared will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who loved him.

As we bid farewell to Valdor LaPaix, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace. His memory will forever be a beacon of love and generosity, guiding us through our own journeys. Valdor's spirit, though no longer in our midst, will continue to inspire and uplift us, just as it always has.
