Valerie A. DiCarlo, 82, passed away on October 4, 2025, she was born on January 29, 1945 in Mannington, West Virginia to the late Warren and Madeline Grant Brown; moved to Buffalo, New York in 1944, and Lakewood, NY in 1977.
Valerie was a graduate of Rosary Hill College (currently Damon University)and then earned a Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University at Buffalo in 1965. She provided rehabilitation counseling to persons with severe physical disabilities for several years. Later, Valerie worked for Project KNOW in Jamestown, NY. Outside of her family and faith, Valerie's one true love was the art of dance. She taught modern dance, aerobics, and her beloved yoga for over 50 years.
Preceded in death by her husband of 56 cherished years Joseph S. DiCarlo, survived by her adult children, Anthony W. DiCarlo of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Diana (Barry) DiCarlo Bay of Columbus, Ohio, and five adoring grandchildren Jackson, Mackenna and Keaton Bay, and Reya and Phoenix DiCarlo. Also survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Fliss, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, who have always had her heart.
Valerie was known for her never failing unconditional love and respect for family, friends, and students. She was a faithful communicant of the Holy Apostle Parish in Jamestown, New York.
A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday October 18, 2025 at St. John's Catholic Church, 270 Newton Ave. Jamestown, NY 14750.
