Valerie J. (Martins) L'Etoile, 63, of New Bedford died May 21, 2025 unexpectedly at Tuft's Medical Center.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Charles R. Martins and Elsie L. (Place) Sabourin and step-daughter of the late Arthur Sabourin, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She was formerly employed as a certified nurses assistant.
Valerie enjoyed attending her grandchildrens sporting events, playing cards and going to the beach.
Survivors include her daughter, Brooke L'Etoile and her fiancé Michael Ricketts of New Bedford, a son, Brett L'Etoile and his wife Jamie of Augusta, GA; 2 brothers, Gilbert Martins and his life partner Lee-Cee Teixeira of Acushnet and Donald Martins of Putnam, CT; a sister, Beth Starks and her husband Earl of Thompson, CT; 8 grandchildren, Indiera Thompson, Alexia Thompson, Jerome Thompson, Jr., Ja'Nea Thompson, Evan L'Etoile, Issac L'Etoile, Ryan L'Etoile and Elsieria Thompson and her boyfriend Isaiah Lopes and their child Emeilia Elsie Lopes who is on the way and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 6th at 12 Noon in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Her family will receive guests from 11 AM - 12 Noon prior to her service. Burial will be private.
