Valerie Ciarus-Pierce, age 67, of Huntington, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 10, 2026, and was reunited with her youngest son. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jonny Eugene Ciarus and Marlene Gale Wineriter. Valerie married the love of her life, Brent Dale Pierce, on March 6, 1976, in the Huntington LDS Church.
Valerie’s greatest joy was her family. She devoted her life to being a loving mother to her four children and cherished every moment spent as a grandmother to her grandchildren. She loved family trips through the mountains.
She is survived by her husband, Brent Dale Pierce of Huntington; her children, Brandon and Lindsey Pierce of Wellington, Jason and Kristy Pierce of Price, and Heather and Josh Sommer of Helper; her sisters, Stephanie and Able Maarse and Kathleen Ciarus, both of Murray; twelve grandchildren; and one great-grandchild with another on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved son, Brad Allen Pierce; her brother, James Ciarus; and her sister, Sheila Beck.
Graveside service, Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., Huntington City Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Castle Valley Funerals & Cremations (680 East 100 South) in Price and Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Castle Valley Funerals & Cremations where family and friends are always welcome daily and may share memories online at www.castlevalleyfunerals.com.
