Edward Sandy Mortensen was born on October 31,1941 to Maude May and Heber J Grant Mortensen. Sandy was reunited with Judy Kay, the love of his life and his daughter Sandy Kaye October 18,2025. He was one of fifteen children. Sandy met the love of his life, Judy Kaye Mortensen, in Salt Lake City. They were married in Tooele on February 21, 1964 and were happily married for 57 years.

Sandy graduated infantry training with the United States Marine Corps in 1959 and served until 1963 (4years). He was honorably discharged, proud to be a Marine, and to have served his Country. Everyone that knew Sandy, knew he was a Marine through and through.
He always held a job, most notably his job with Consolidation Coal Co (Consol Mine). Within Consol Mine he held numerous positions from laborer to roof bolter to equipment operator. Sandy was a priesthood holder in The Church of Jesus Christ of-Latter Day Saints.
Grandpa Sandy really liked to tease, he always showed up to events for his grandchildren, and took them on many trips. He loved to spoil his granddaughters Dendi and Emilee. Grandpa Sandy loved to golf and used to take his children hunting when they were younger. He loved his football and was a diehard Chiefs fan. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor.
